In 1972, NASA’s space shuttle program officially launched, McDonald’s Egg McMuffin entered test markets and “The Godfather” film series debuted. It also was the year this group of dedicated employees started their railroad careers:
- Nancy L. Brice, clerk-Premium Operations, Transportation, Los Angeles, California, Los Angeles Service Unit: “I like what I do. Intermodal is very fast paced.”
- Francisco “Pancho” C. Daniel, locomotive engineer, Transportation, Sparks, Nevada, Northern California Service Unit: “This work brings me satisfaction. When people ask me what I do, I say ‘I Build America – I operate trains.’”
- Johnathan “Tuttie” L. Deckard, lead rail car technician, Mechanical, Palestine, Texas: “I really enjoy railroading. I like my co-workers, and we have a good time.”
- Greg L. Wahl, locomotive engineer, Transportation, Bakersfield, California, Los Angeles Service Unit: “I see the new technology, and if it works out, it’s implemented on the engines. I make myself available to people; everyone has my phone number.”
